Oh, wow, thank you!

We had flocks and flocks of them in New Mexico. We had 10-20 feeders up when the babies were fledging. They would fly in coordinated formations to feed. If you stood by the feeders and held your arms out, and were verrrry verrry still, they'd alight on you while waiting their turn to buss the feeders.

That was awesome! I wish I would run across a nest that I could watch here - I feed a few hundred hummers after the babies fledge every year, but haven’t bumped into a nest yet....maybe someday :)

I have about a half dozen that stay here year round. However during the migration twice a year for several days all I do is brew feed, clean feeders, and refill. At times it looks like a cloud of dark smoke all around the feeders.

They keep me hopping but I look forward to it everytime!

Someone that knows I am a bird nut emailed this link to me and I thought I would share. Glad you like it.

I have seen a documenter about the migration of the Hummingbirds across the gulf of Mexico. The even show up on weather radar. Must be something in person.

This was really neat! Thank you so much for sharing with your fellow bird nuts. I had a couple of feeders two homes ago but only saw maybe half a dozen (maybe because our regular, Mr. Fatty, ran the rest off). I put them out when I moved in to my apartment but never saw one. I think I’ll try again!
