I revently found quite a bit of different info on the effects of wheat, corn, soy, rice, and potatoes on the birds digestive system and am going to try to make healthier foods for my and my parents' birds. I used to just wing it with what I thought was healthy stuff, whole wheat flour, and eggs. I'm going to use slept and oat flour as well as whole eggs as the base. Does anyone have suggestions on how to do this, or recipes without corn or wheat four?
Also, I know chi's seeds are very nutritious, but was wondering if the grass is good as well.

I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions, but what kind of info did you find regarding the effect of corn, soy, rice, and potatoes on the bird's digestive system?

That they are very starchy, and parrits' digestive systems are unable to break them down because they lack the enzymes needed. There sens to be a new.train of thought on feeding parrots, and it makes total sense.and is.backed.up by scientific evidence. Ive always disliked corn because not only does.it have little.nutritional value, its hard to digest, that's why its called a filler. Here's a link about it.
