One Scaley-Breasted Lorikeet!
Hi everyone! First post woo!
So I just got my baby Scaley-Breasted Lorikeet (4 months old) about a week ago. I got Olive from a breeder who hand raises his birds (although mine seems a bit unhandled ) .
The only problem is that Olive will not touch her wet food. She only started eating her dry mix once I mashed banana in it (loves her banana! :D) but shows absolutely no interest in the wet.
The breeder had the same problem with her. Nothing he did could encourage her to eat it!

Does anyone have any tips/tricks on getting a very stubborn Lorikeet to eat her darned nectar?

I've never had a lorikeets, but I can give some basic ideas about getting birds to eat any food.

Serve it in more than one way. Pretend to eat it in front of your lorikeet, try letting her lick it off your finger, try offered it during out of cage play time. Mix some of it in with the food that she does like so she can taste the flavor. Try offering it on a spoon, pretend like it's a toy. Try all sorts of different things.

Are there other brands of lorikeet food? Maybe you would have more luck with a different brand.

What brand of Nectar are you using??? Lorikeet usually LOVES wet nectar. We usually warm up the water before mixing nectar then we offer it and Malachai goes crazy over wet nectar. Try to offer some in a shallow dish for her to see and bring it up to her beak and let her have a taste.

Of course as soon as I start asking for help, Olive turns around and eats her nectar!
Thanks for your answers. I tried serving her wet mix in a metal dish today, and she ate about a quarter of it. A good start!
I guess she just didn't like the plastic dish?
