Bruno has been getting his veggies via birdy smoothie for months now....Aka I chop/puree all his veggie, fruit, protein, and grain. Which he eats and enjoys no problem. He just always still seemed puzzled by larger chopped food and would just play with it.

The other day I finally tried a bird bread recipe with Jiffy cornbread mix. I added a cup a mixed frozen veggies which consisted of red bell pepper, broccoli, carrots, snap peas, mushrooms, and cauliflower. I also shredded half a fresh apple and half a fresh carrot and added that and some raw organic honey and a tablespoon of his regular bird seed and the crushed egg shell.

He has been LOVING it. And the best part is he now eating bigger pieces of veggie because they are a big softer from being baked in the oven. I know it's not as good as fresh. But it is a step in the right direction .

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought mushrooms were toxic...?

My guys from small to big all love their birdie bread, and it is so easy to sneak in the healthy stuff they won't eat otherwise:)
After the first batch, it is so easy to figure out how to switch things up in it as well:)

Without birdie bread, I'm not sure I would have ever gotten veggies, grains or any healthy foods past my too's beak. It's good to keep a list of safe foods while you make your first few batches, pretty soon you'll know them by heart. :) Birdie bread is a favorite menu item for my birds too.
