TOPS Organic - good stuff

So you know

normally I won't participate in a forum that has to do with food and diet (of parrots) because of all the opinions and controversy surrounding this topic. BUT.... Worth mentioning I thought, the other day I decided to try TOPS for the first time (stands for Totally Organic (either Pellets or Parrot food)?

Look at this link: No preservatives, no added vitamins or sugar, no GMO, not heat processed, cold pressed to retain natural enzymes and nutrients. The pellets look like green rabbit pellets and smell a bit like greens.

I'm just starting to use this brand for Griffin along with Harrison's organic. Harrison's I find superior too (proof in bloodwork over 15 years).
Have your bird's tried TOPS? What do you and your birds think about it?

I really wanted mine to like TOPS both the pellets and sprouted seed, but it was a no go for both. Karen sprouts the seeds for her finches now.

I love TOPs. My cockatiels are on it right now (pretty much their whole life they have been on it) and they will eat the pellets no problem. My gccs were on it but they refused to eat it recently so I've been trying to get them to eat Roudybush now (sometimes they will sometimes they won't...pains..) Folger and Loki refused to eat TOPs no matter what I did to get them to eat it....Folger has no problem with Roudybush luckily... he definitely needs to eat some kind of pellet!

I just ordered some TOPs for my fids and am apprehensive that the tiels will be a no go. the budgies love greens already and Mojo (my GCC) is still learning to try new things since he's a baby so I am hoping i can get him open to the idea of healthier foods early. I'm

My birds do NOT like TOPS, to my great dismay

Avery would rather starve than eat it, and Shiko will only eat it when starving. It makes me sad. They seem to be obsessed with Roudybush! They both always eat it first and leave the Harrison's/TOPS for desperate time

. They eat so much in the morning though, so pellets are an after thought to me, thank goodness. I think I'd have a break down if they hated fresh stuff AND the TOPS pellets

Griffin is the only one who eats it. It's funny though, when I watch him eat it, it looks like he's just powdering it to pieces and not ingesting any lol. I'm sure he is since I see his little throat move like he's swallowing, and if he wasn't eating I doubt he'd sit at the bowl for any length of time. I guess like any food, much of it falls to debris.

I find Shiko will also leave a fine dust afterwards as well... I think the pellet itself is quite dry and just breaks up ridiculously easy. I never see much Roudy or Harrison dust, but I swear I could take the left overs and use it to make them birdy bread or treats with how much he leaves behind.

Oh okay, that must be normal then due to the breakable texture. They must be ingesting enough.

I find that putting less in the bowl (of any pellet) at a time, helps a little in reducing this powdering and waste.

Ha Ha Ha.....Yep, That is a GREAT idea, My Loving departed Zon "Poe" had tons of that "Harrison dust" in and around his bowls, what a waste
