Sun Conure
Hi guys :) I have a 14 week old sun conure named Paisley, and I was wondering how much veggies should I give her a day? Right now I have cabbage and kale in her treat bowl...I just don't want to over do it...also, in a parrot mix that I bought today, there were dried red peppers?...is this ok to give her? It just seem like it maybe hot in her mouth. Thanks!:orange:

I see that a lot of people on here give their birds dried red peppers so those are definitely okay. I don't know what to reccomend on the amount of veggies though.

I don't recommend giving too much cabbage or kale - it's believed that they can give parrots an upset stomach.
Vegetables are great, because they have tons of vitamins and minerals, and barely any sugar! Along with pellets, your conure should be provided with at least 40 grams of veggies a day. If he gets through it all, there's no harm in giving more!

Some great veggies for conures are carrot, corn, spinach and pepper/chillies.

Unlike us, birds actually can't taste the 'spicyness' in chillies. The chemical that makes us gasp - capsaicin, has no effect on birds!
