??? about Harrison's

Hi all! I would like to try Harrison's pellets for my fids (currently on Roudybush small). It seems from my research that they seem to be one of the most recommended. So, my question is, should I go with the adult lifetime or the high potency? I think I will try the fine for both my 5 year old sun conure and 12 year old BFA. The website says to get the high potency for the first 6 months and then go to the adult lifetime?? Is that what you guys suggest also? Why do you need to switch after 6 months? I would like to get a small amount to try in case they don't like it (it's not cheap..lol). Also, I have read that it tends to spoil faster...anyone have any methods to keep it fresh longer? I believe the reason for high potency for first 6 months might be because it's "richer" and has more protein for previously malnourished birds? Breeding birds, very young birds, and some species might benefit from HP. My avian vets say the regular lifetime formula is fine from the beginning also. I'd consult your vet too, for the best recommendation for your specific birds and their specific situations .

Sometimes vets will have a small sample package. If not, go to Harrison's website to ask them for a sample. I'd be surprised if they don't send you a few.

The nutrient level goes down in organic products over time (like our vitamin and supplements do) it doesn't mean it literally "spoils". Also the nutrients I'm sure dissipate slowly, and for example if it expires in September, just because it's September 1st (or even 30th) that you have to throw it away. Trust me I've been using Harrison's for probably over a decade with outstanding results in feather quality and bloodwork.

You'll want just the adult lifetime if your birds do not require any additional nutritional support. IIRC, there's even a statement on the site not to use the high potency for a long time.

I actually use a mix of Harrison's and Zupreem with my birds.
