My macaw has been acting picky and not wanting to eat her pellets. I decided to try and create a recipe to mix in with her pellets and encourage her to eat more. This recipe took a while to figure out but has worked great.
I powdered 1 cup of her pellets. I then mixed 1/2 banana, 1 small (cooked) sweet potato, 1 egg with shell, 1 tblsp of almond butter, 2 tsp unsweetened apple sauce, and cinnamon. I used my vitamix to completely blend the wet ingredients.
I then combined my wet and powdered pellets together in a bowl and mixed until It formed a doe.
I used a round lego like piece to cut the doe into tiny muffins and baked them for about 15 mins.
she loved them... I hope this recipe helps others:)

Thanks for posting Kali's muffin recipe. I'm glad it ended her picky spell. New birdie bread recipes are always welcome. :)

Thanks Macawlover12 that recipe sounds great. Minus the pellets and egg shell I think I'd eat it myself hehe :)
Larry eats his pellets but I think I'll make that for treats.
I'd imagine I can freeze it in small pieces too :)

This recipe smells so good that it was tempting to taste it! I gave Kali three more of them today and it seems to stimulate her appetite. I really like it because it covers a lot of her nutritional needs. It is a little high in protein but is fairly balanced. I will most likely tweet it a little after a couple more batches.

Birds are incredibly honest taste testers, mine never hesitate to inform me when the recipe is substandard. I'm guessing if Kali likes it, it's probably close to perfect. I am going to see what my flock thinks. :)

Sorry I didn't realize I didn't add a temperature.
350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.

Also if the doe sticks to your hands, it is too wet. Add some additional powdered pellets.
