Feeding Just Got Easier!

Instead of spamming all the different topics, I'll try condense a small update here.

I wish I've been more active during the last few weeks but due to finals and projects, I've barely been able to relax or sleep (I went a week with only 4 hours of sleep total)!

Anyways, back on topic, after a little over 4 months, Gizmo has finally made the transition over to pellets from seeds! Not really the biggest news, but I was ecstatic to see his poop change color and his food bowls pretty much empty of seeds. I was thinking the seeds were impacting the growth of his feathers, so hopefully they'll start getting better. Now I can officially start some formal training using his seeds as a treat!

Also, since my school things have been pretty lenient (for now) I've been making some bird toys which I might post later. There are a few I'm really proud of!

Are you kidding, transitioning from seed to pellets is great progress! Good luck with Gizmo's training! I'd like to see those toys.

Sweet! After the next molt you'll probably see a significant difference! And in the long run it will be so much healthier, too.

Looking forward to those pics, Reid.

When I saw your post topic, I figured you'd won the lottery, but then I read the message body...oh, well...at least I was hoping for you.....

Thank you all for the wonderful comments! I found myself trying to get my stuff together for the new semester and forgot to reply :54::54:

Oh boy, I'm not sure if i did! My thoughts are still kind of jumbled up but I would like to give a shout out to my great friend, caffeine, who has helped me the past few days!

The toy pics are coming up! Unfortunately, only a few pictures were able to be sent to my laptop.

I'm sad that he's almost finished with his molt, the days seem so much longer waiting now! The biggest thing I want to see changed are the brown/stripes vanish.

When I saw your post topic, I figured you'd won the lottery, but then I read the message body...oh, well...at least I was hoping for you.....
I'd be grateful for 10 dollars right now! Because of my eBay account I've been having to make a lot of DIY items to make up for the (at least) 80 dollars I've spent in the last 3 months!

Here are the toys (well, two)! I wasn't able to go out to buy some stainless steel chains so I had to compromise with untreated seagrass (?) rope. I bought this some time ago but forgot what it was called.

This might be placed into the parakeet's cage because Arrow (female/yellow) has taken an interest in paper.

This is my favorite! I haven't been able to find a foraging toy small enough for them so I decided to make one myself. Both cages don't have enough foraging; crossing my fingers that I can find another slinky for both cages. This one is currently in the 'Keets cage and they haven't noticed the treat yet so I'm switching it to millet tomorrow.

Those are awesome toys! What did you make the second one out of? I just recently found the finger trap things and bought a bunch of them but I haven't got around to making toys with them yet. The toys I make always look like a 5 year old made them...but that's ok...the fids always like them.

I can't imagine going a whole week with only 4 hours sleep...anymore I can't imagine even going 1 day with only 4 hours sleep..LOL.

The second toy was a small slinky that I (not sure how to describe) pulled the two ends together to make "that" and secured it with a zip tie. I'm thinking of melting the plastic then connecting them so they're inseparable but I'm afraid it'll burn the plastic and cause something hazardous. Then I tied around those really inexpensive crinkle craft papers. It's so easy to put treats in too!

The string looks like hemp? I love the slinky idea, would get covered with poop in less than a day due to my lorikeets erectile poop though -.-
