So I've been fighting Zilla like she is a 3 year old toddler to eat leafy greens and vitamin A rich foods.... No matter what I do they either end up flung across the room, wiped on the perches or cage bars or just left on her plate. She can even pick around them in her chops no matter how small I chop them :(

So tonight I decided to have wild rice with my dinner and was racking my brain on how I was going to sneak some "good" stuff into her belly without her knowing it was good stuff.

I got out the rice cooker and put the rice in it, then thought "what if I shred a sweet potato and toss it in there?" "How about if I chop those dandelion leaves and put them in too?"

So I tossed in the shredded sweet potato and waited until the rice was almost done and just tossed in some finely chopped dandelion leaves.

I put a heaping tablespoon on her plate with a few raw shreds of sweet tater, some black beans (her fav) and a grape. I fully expected her to eat the black beans and the grape and throw the rest at me and beg for something else. But she didn't! :D She ate everything except the raw sweet tater! :D

I didn't get my wild rice with my dinner but she got "good" stuff in her belly!!!:D

The funny thing is that she "helped" make it!

She was on my shoulder watching all the grating and chopping! I offered her bites and she just dropped them and gave me that "do I look stupid" look!:54:

That is so awesome! Maybe she felt bad that she was getting all Mommy's rice?
Nah, nevermind.

Very sly of you, Amanda, glad your trick worked!

Poppy loves to take tiny bits of food, spread her toes, and let the food fall, while she glares at me.

Thanks for THAT idea! I made boiled rice, purple hull peas and cut up red potato, scooped up two bowls and added three Harrison pellets in each. Buddy the green pig ate it all, Venus, she just looked at it. I was looking at kale at the market but didn't get it because I haven't been able to get Buddy to eat it. That's one of his favorite foods to sling, the other is strawberries.
