I got Kiwi an edible perch once unknowingly. I thought it was a concrete pedi perch. I was horrified to see him merrily chomping his way through "concrete" Boy did I feel stupid when I realized it was a mineral perch:rolleyes:

I haven't gotten him one since. He gets a manu block. I'm sure he was ingesting some of the perch, but mostly, he was just ripping it up and making a HUGE POWDERY MESS. He doesn't seem to do the same to the mineral blocks, he just nibbles them occasionally.

In doing searches, it appears there are at least two types, mineral based(yours), and the 'snak shak' type. Honey and alfalfa based. I realy haven't seen any negative reviews. Except as you noted, made a mess!

Not only do they make a mess, not very sanitary either!!!! They do poop on it occasionally, walk on them (who knows what they've walked on prior) then eat it....nah!

The Snak Shak one didn't last the day with my grey! The mineral perch didn't either. My mini Mac hasn't notices his mineral one is edible yet (been a few months now).
