I have a beautiful 4 year old brown throated conure named Charlie. Just bought him on April 18 2015
Today was my first day trying to change my brown throated conure's diet. He's on a seed and pellet mix but also gets grapes and tomatoes daily. He also gets the bird dried fruits and millet for treats. I was looking at some of the recipes and decided to make him a chop I think its called lol. I made it with cooked natural brown rice flax seed banana grape tomato cucumber and romaine lettuce. I put it in his cage in a bowl a little smaller than the palm of my hand but he wouldn't touch it. When he was out of the cage he almost ate it twice but changed his mind after barely touching a tomato. I ate a piece of cucumber and I even pulled out a piece of grape to show him (they are his favorite.) but still nothing. Does anybody have some tips or recipes????:)

Keep trying different combinations and presentations! Variety is key! Chop up all kinds of different fruits and veggies and mix them all up. Try small pieces, big pieces, take a cheese grater to some fruits and veggies, microwave, mix in some seeds/pellets. Don't give up! Some favorites in my house are sweet potato (cooked), squash, and zucchini (grated). Also avoid tomatoes: they are very acidic.

Will be a challenge for a bit! Suggestion, your choice of text is very painful to read! Pretty, yes, but..

Honestly I was a little sad that he didn't eat it but I like making it so ill be enjoying making him different kinds. Could I make just fruit based chop instead of fruit & veggie????

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Both fruits and veggies are important, though the proportions of each vary by species. Another technique is to eat and enjoy what you have prepared in front of Charlie! They really are flock creatures and you are a member!

Inmate him a mash today and of course again wasn't to interested. But my hubby told me to add some of his bird seeds on top and he ate the seeds and would get a bit of mash into his mouth by accident. At least he got a taste. :)
