Do I need to remove the seeds like I do in fruits? I purchased some Thai hot peppers today for the birds. Some of them like the dried version that comes in some bird mixes and I noticed that those still contain seeds, what about fresh?

Pepper seeds are safe to feed. Just be careful after your bird eats them...the hot doesn't affect birds but you will get the full effect of that hot pepper if your bird tries to give you a kiss! My sun conure did that to me one time:eek:

My Grey eats them whole; it's his favorite treat. My lovebird, pecks the seeds out of the pepper and eats them. Parrots seem immune to the whole capsaicin burn. Just be careful of the oil left on their beaks and feet. I forget and mine burn me all the time with fiery kisses after eating peppers.

Haha, whole peppers give Kiss Kiss an entirely new meaning.

My birds like whole peppers, they enjoy taking them apart. Peppers are perfect for skewer treats too.

Don't accidentally touch anywhere near your face or eyes until you wash that juice off your hands thoroughly, and if any get under your fingernails. Otherwise you'll be in for a pretty painful experience. :52: In fact, I don't feed peppers anymore that are too hot because I don't even trust myself as silly as that is.

I have fallen victim to the hot pepper kiss. I totally forgot chili had jalapeños and kissed her after she was done eating---- you better believe I'll never forget again!!!

I'm going to wear rubber gloves while handling them. I've used them in Mexican salads so I know how painful they can be!

If you have to 'suit up' for it, it's not worth it LOL :D. I stick to bell and Poblano (I see them called Pasilla? They must look similar). They love those, especially red bell pepper.

I slice them up and put the seeds and the rest of the pepper all in one of Duke's dishes and he eats it all. He actually goes for the seeds first. So yes, the seeds are perfectly fine for your bird.

My guys also go crazy for the seeds. I never had a reaction chopping them in 2 years, until a couple of weeks ago. They must have been hotter than normal, my hands were on fire for hours. I dipped them in milk, covered with Vaseline, kept googling and trying things until finally vegetable oil helped. I am definitely using gloves from now on, that was horrible.

I made these this past Saturday. A friend has a garden that grows the best peppers . She has kept me stocked up. Found this recipe and tried a few. BB loved them.
I did not have everything on the list but put in what I did have Tied them up around the cage and he loved it

Jalapeño chop Kabobs😋 For the Filling -
Mixed Veg-Steamed
Fresh Broccoli-Raw
Mixed Quinoa-Cooked
Foraging Greens
Mexican Spicy Noodle Mix-cooked
Milk Thistle Seeds
Organic Bee Pollen
Omega Sprinkle
Dried Nettle
Almond Flakes
Mash everything up, make a side slit on the Jalapeño taking a thin piece out so you can easily fill them up with the mashed chop mix, pierce threw skewer and add anything else in between I added Berries, perfect for foraging and easy to prepare.

Haha I live in New Mexico and Mexican food is dominant here. It was funny to to read all the replies talking about how hot jalapeños are and how some of you use gloves. It's a staple food where I'm from. My fiance can eat handfulls of sliced jalapeños by themselves. Thanks For The laugh everyone. :)

My bird's favorite veggie is hot peppers, especially Scotch Bonnets. I took this picture just last week when I uncovered his cage in the morning. I had sneaked a red jalapeño into his food bowl while he was sleeping, as a surprise for when he woke up. He looks like a little girl who got into mom's lipstick drawer!
