I give them Parrot Popsicles! Zilla has always wanted my ice cream, sherbet, frozen yogurt, popsicles, anything I have that is super cold or frozen (she gets ice in her water a couple times a day) I know the ones I eat are not parrot "friendly" so I decided to get some organic juice and freeze it. If you have a juicer you could make your own juice, I don't so I buy it already made. An ice cube tray (I use the one that makes the little tiny square cubes like for a thermos)

Last night they got carrot, pineapple & mango blend and it was complete silence for at least 10 minutes! I kept looking at them to make sure they were still where I had left them! :D And they weren't begging for my ice cream!

Most of you probably already know this, but it's a new thing for me, so I thought I would share for those that don't know.

What a fantastic idea! Now if only Kiwi would eat one lol. He doesn't like cold stuff too much. I'm surprised both your babies like frozen foods served frozen:D

Ahhhh Fantastic!!! I will definitely do this - thanks for posting! My two keep things cranked with the volume sometimes (just mornings and a bit in the evenings). Birdie popsicles!!!

That's an interesting idea, I may have to try it.

My Meyer's parrot absolutely loves frozen berries, especially blueberries and strawberries. You would think he would find something that cold to be very unpleasant, but he's a weirdo. He'll start yelling "Want a berry", and once he gets his prize he'll spend quit a bit of time licking and gnawing on it.

I would never have thought of this if they hadn't both gone completely nuts over a Popsicle I was eating the other night. I know mine aren't even good for me so I had to figure something out that would be OK for them to have.

They aren't too noisy most of the time, it just seems to be in the evenings as soon as something is on TV I am interested in, or I am on the phone, they have to have a "who can be louder" match!

i would say ( i have ,but its more like they have me ) .lol . 2 orange winged amazons , Boris and Poncho
i have seen with my OWA that they love grape Popsicles ( only found this out as i was eating one and boris just had to have it and wouldnt take no for a answer ) but never tried ice cream , sherbet, frozen yogurt , the only time both my birds go crazy are in the morning after taking the cover of cage at 6:30 am and then about 7:30 pm and there not a thing i can do about it . i know its a calling scream they do calling the flock but both times if i just go in there and talk to them they stop and just trill, chat back with me .. but if i dont they can go on for hours one right after the other.

I love the idea of parrot Popsicles. Unfortunately mine both do not like cold stuff. I warm their food before each meal, spoiled birds. I am going to try the Popsicles though, they might like the fruity taste better and eat them.

My 2 are very spoiled, they get their chop warmed, their fresh fruit & veggies chilled and now their juice frozen!

That's a wonderful idea. Frozen fruit MIGHT mean less flingage. A parrotlet with a fresh berry is a sight to behold. 8-0 My Grey loves ice cubes (that's how I get him to go back to his cage with no fuss) so I know he will love that idea.

But, how I buy total silence is warm, baked sweet potato (and if I'm feeling really nice, oven-baked homemade sweet potato "fries" with zesty seasonings). I work from home, and during online meetings I hand out warm sweet potato (or nut-butter on warm toast). Total num-num silence for a good half-hour, then another hour of sleeping on a warm, full crop.

Great post!
