TOPS (Totally Organics)

Is TOPS a complete pellet? I came across information that suggested it did not have additional vitamins/minerals compared to other pellets. If that is the case, should the bird be supplemented with another brand? And consider a parrot who is not a big veggies or fruit eater so that may be lacking there

I used to feed TOPs but everyone lost interest after awhile so I now feed roudybush. I never had any health problems with my birds on either one and they all got clean bill of health from the vet. I feed dry mixes and fresh stuff along with pellets. My one Loki still can't be convinced to eat fresh and shes fine too.

Mine get the occasional TOPS, but IMO variety is key for a complete diet, and that includes fresh foods and veggies.

Please remember if any pellet claims it has been fortified and/or supplemented with 'XYZ' vitamins/minerals, etc, your bird may be getting too much of a 'good' thing if that's the only thing he eats.

I leave pellets as an "Anytime food." Currently Zupreem naturals to my regular birds until I run out of the 20lb bag, and Mazuri breeder blend to my pairs.

It's always available in the cage, but I feed two or three meals of fresh food mash/chop. Usually two, with snacks tossed in throughout the day when I'm home, from something I'm probably eating. Piece of fruit, crust from a sandwich, etc.

My Grey has to have his "crunchies" before bed, so I make sure his bowl is topped off with pellets.

Pellets are always available, but I have two that hardly touch fresh foods. I want to make sure that TOPS is nutritionally sound for them. If not, I can add another pellet to mix it up.

It may help to read the ingredient highlights for TOP's as to why it's not fortified with unnatural ingredients!
