Parrot Pizza

Well, we have now had Tokie for almost 2 weeks.....and we are getting to know each other....I am finding out her food likes and dislikes, and her favorites....she really will eat about anything, and I enjoy fixing her bowl every day.....she is funny to watch as she picks though it.....the other night I cooked pizza and it was AWFUL, and I had burned the crust, so I scraped everything off of it, and gave her a piece of the crust....Well, she LOVED it, and so I saved it, and give her a little piece every morning.....that is her favorite treat....so I am baking today for the dogs, I thought I would make a special pizza dough for Tokie, and cut into little strips, to give her one at each feeding.....I am using whole wheat flour, a tad of yeast, a little olive oil, then I added chia seed, flax seed, and crushed red peppers. I'll over cook it as she seems to like the crunchiness of it.....it could probably be spread with some peanut butter too, or even add shredded carrots or apple to it.....anyone have any other suggestions? I do want to try the cornbread recipe also that Wendy cooks....

I don't know any birds that don't love Pizza crust. LOVE your idea of making some special 'bread/crust' for your baby! If you have squash, you could add some of that as well.

I like your idea for parrot pizza! You could use mashed sweet potato with grated or chopped veggies. Thanks for sharing.

Cauliflower makes a really good pizza crust for humans...maybe it could work to trick our birdies too? If you make your own tomato sauce, you can use that. It is the acidity of the tomatoes that is bad for birds and cooking them really cuts that down so it is safe. The only problem with jarred sauces is all the added salt and junk. For "cheese"....what about grated squash?? Oh I am so doing this.

Maybe a little spinach too? This post is making me hungry!

I love this idea. BB loves Pizza and hates Sweet Potatoes. Might just have to start putting some on his Pizza .

We started buying the mini pizza shells and making our own . I am so going to try one for just him

Zilla loves the pizza crust (even the one made with cauliflower) I put homemade tomato sauce mixed with a little mashed sweet potato, then add some shredded veggies (zucchini, carrot, red & yellow peppers, whatever I have on hand)

Bacca would probably like Pizza. Apparently pizza is a big delicacy for the Brooklyn quakers. She snagged some of my toast one morning for breakfast, now she waits anxiously for her little bit of toast I give her.
