I got a huge amount of organic loose leaf tea for Christmas. (Woo hoo!! I love it but rarely splurge on it). I have some rooibos tea which is amazing and has no caffeine (I don't think rooibos ever has caffeine). I wondered if Gilbert could drink some with me. I saw an article that says it is good for them too.

Any of you do this? Any favorite teas your bird prefers?

My chihuahua loves chamomile. I have to cover the cup or he drinks it all. Lol.

Pazu's favourite tea is whatever tea I'm drinking.
Which is strong PG tips (black tea based) with milk.

Smart bird....

I think teas lower in caffeine (not that they're exceptionally high) are fine for parrots :) I'd just double check on what leafs are parrot safe, as not all tea leaves are on the safe list. And as long as you don't take too much milk or sugar with it either, I'm sure it would be a healthy treat :)

If you like sweet tea of any kinda consider honey instead of sugar. It's lovely with tea

Next cup I will have to offer some! I don't use milk/sugar/honey either. Thanks.

Peppermint, ginger, chamomile tea are all fine. Just read the ingredients for herbal teas because sometimes they have other things added in that may be harmful, though chances are a few beaks of tea isn't going to cause an issue.

Mine have never really taken much of an interest in my tea, though I've served cooled peppermint and ginger tea before vet trips.

Gilbert generally takes an interest in anything I have (including the food on my plate when he has the same thing in his--but mine is better because it's mine...lol). He has enjoyed the tea I have given him so far. He had an organic orange mint and loved it. [emoji3]
