Gloria, BFA, adopted on Jan. 9, 2016 when she was 30 years old
. Her mom went to a nursing home.
Also have 2 cats (Rangerand Luna) and a 24 year old aquatic turtle, named Elvis.
So I have a couple of questions about oils and cooking sprays. I know that I need to watch the fat content in my BFA's food. I've read here that some people drizzle coconut oil on their parrot's chop to entice them to eat. Is this okay to do? How much is okay? I figured maybe 1/4 tsp. or so--or should I just not do that.
Also--I'm planning on making Gloria some homemade tortillas. Her favorite people food is taco chips so I will make corn tortillas without the salt and I'll add in a little whole wheat flour, flax and chia seeds. I figured this would be an alternative to birdie bread, which she's not interested in. I'm not sure if just baking them dry will crisp them up. Would coconut oil spray be okay? According to the label, there is no fat and the only ingredients are coconut oil and the propellant. I thought that spraying the tortillas might crisp them up.
