My Amazon is a perch potato. She will literally sit in one spot all day, only moving to eat and drink. She's been this way since the beginning (she was rehomed, and she is over 15 years old). I've tried moving toys to different perches to encourage her to move around, but I have had no such luck. She doesn't even come out of her cage. She must be overweight. I'm wondering if it's a good idea to feed her low fat pellets. I currently feed her Roudybush Maintenance. Thoughts?

How much does she weigh? Does she look overweight/obese?

I know you've said she's a perch potato, but can you 'make her' exercise? Is she flighted? Holding her and enticing her to do 'flap flap', letting her walk around are 2 ideas to get her moving. :)

Does she get fresh food in her diet as well, or only the Roudybush Maintenance?

Here's a good link to ingredients to pellets, in case you are interested: http://www.parrotforums.com/parrot-food-recipes-diet/28242-ingredients-pellets.html

I'm not sure how much she weighs, it's been over a year since she's been to the vet. She looks obese in my opinion. She is flighted, and when she does fly (which is very rarely, and only when she gets spooked), she appears to have a difficult time holding her weight. She can't seem to fly very far at all. It looks sort of like gliding but with lots of flapping.
No, I cannot make her fly. She is not comfortable with stepping up or being touched. There is only one person who can pet her, but she still doesn't want to step up or come out of her cage. She is pretty picky, but she will eat dried vegetables (peas, carrots, sweet potato to name a few). I'm still attempting to coax her into eating fresh veggies. No luck yet.
