I know a lot of people, especially newer members, always want recipes for chop. I decided to really detail the chop I made today to maybe help someone out.

So I started with a butternut squash, two sweet potatoes, and a pie pumpkin. All peeled, chopped, and raw.

Then I spread 3 cups (dry) of still hot quinoa over the top. I do it this way so it softens up the first layer, but doesn't cook it all the way.

Then I added a box of cooked, whole grain pasta, a bag of cooked beans, and a bag of cooked lentils

5 jalapeños, 3 bell peppers, and 2 heads of broccoli.

A bunch of radishes, a head of cauliflower, a pound of carrots, peeled, and 3 cucumbers, peeled.

4 turnips, peeled and a bunch of beets, peeled, along with the greens.

Then 3 bunches of kale

With about 2 cups of oats sprinkled over the top, which helps soak up some extra moisture.

After mixing all together, the finished chop

I think parrot lovers have an odd obsession with how beautiful chop is... or at least I do. I will be the first to admit I drooled over how pretty your chop turned out, and I won't lie - I always sit back and admire my own after making it!

And we do all this so our lovely fids can fling it all over the wall, get it in our hair, and hopefully consume at least 5% of what we place in their bowls

You are awesome! I love the healthy variety, and I can't imagine my own mixes looking anywhere as pretty.

May I ask what food processor you use to chop things up? Are you satisfied with it?

I would happily heat that up, toss in some butter, some hot sauce and maybe S&P... and chow down! I'm sure it would be deelish.

I use a kitchen aid, I'm not sure what model or anything, it was a hand me down from my mom. I love it though, and the birds like everything chopped really fine, so it works great for all of us.

And I portioned it out at a cup and a half per day (Chicken and Tiki will each get half) and I got enough chop for 56 days, just to give an idea of how much it makes

Do you then portion it out in baggies and freeze it?

Just got my Ekkie, Bogart. Still struggling with how/what to feed him!

Luckily, he's a great eater, going for whatever I put in front of him.

So far, I simply cut up a mixture of veggies and give that to him.

Thanks for the recipe!

Looks great! And everything looks so uniform, love it! Do you use the bottom blade for everything? Or mix it up a bit with the spinning circle plate blade?

You know what they would see as an extra special treat? Stuff all this into a pepper of your choosing :)

I use the bottom blade for everything. Keeps everything uniform, and they seem to like that best. I think this is the best batch yet, I had virtually empty bowls and not nearly as much thrown out as usual.

I may try the pepper idea, never thought of that.

I portion it all out into individual sandwich bags, then I put those into freezer bags and freeze them. That way I can take out one day at a time.
