A sample isn't a good test. At first, my JoJo used to spit them back at me, now he purrs like a kitten when I give him some!

Fly free Plum, my gorgeous boy.
Agree with Flboy, it can take some time for your bird to get to like pellets. If you are unlucky there are some they never get to accept, except as ammunition in the pellet flinging competition. Not good of TOPs to ignore your communication though.

I'd buy a decent package of it and take a look at this thread. Changing diets is a process.

My trick is to only introduce new foods in his treat station, in a different bowl. 9 out of 10 it is rejected. I then immediately put it away. Next two times I bring the bowl out while he is already on the stand and make a big deal out of it. He then goes after it like it is the best!
Having said this, he has certain habits that I need to respect! There are 4 pellets that he likes, but Only at certain stations!

I tried the same method with the wife's Bongo last time I was over there. She said he hates Tops! So I filled his play station treat bowl with it and he pigged out! He will not eat it in his main cage!

My trick has always been to leave the new diet out all day and do feedings of the old diet. Eventually the bird will get hungry during the day and eat the new diet.

Another trick I've done was hand feeding the new diet after dunking it in some water and that's been done with birds that I have that liked being hand fed.

Something that I've seen work as well was grinding up the new diet and mixing it in with the old diet if it seems like the new diet keeps getting tossed. This way the bird can get used to the taste of the new diet.
