Re: In case some nutcase has put you off sprouting?

Recommendations:
Buy Grapefruit Seed Extract that is without additives although some are necessary to ensure that the product keeps in its packaging.
Buy good quality seeds and beans preferably Organic from a reputable source
Adhere to common sense hygiene practices

Happy sprouting!

Re: In case some nutcase has put you off sprouting?

I just ordered some lab equipment to do some testing at home, so I'll make a separate thread for that. Again, my post on the contrary side were just to balance out the arguments. Everything in life has pros and cons, so it's good to have both sides.

Will be pleased to see your results in the due course of time and I trust you will be getting validation for them when they are reached. As we all know all sorts of rubbish can be found on the internet but the only info that should be taken seriously is that that has been verified and validated.

The 2011 e-coli outbreak in Germany involved 3000 cases and 30 deaths and one in France. Both were linked to imported Egyptian Fenugreek seeds. The following year Spinach was linked to an E-coli outbreak in the US that sickened 16.

In 2012 the European Food Safety Agency endorsed strict hygiene measures for ready to eat sprouted seeds which included tightening traceability requirements for all seeds intended for sprouting.

Hopefully people will get what I am getting at?
