African Grey Timneh
So I just received in the mail from amazon a 3.5 lb bag of zupreem fruit blend. Timneh seemed to really like it started chowing down. Which i thought was great a lot less waste than nutriberries and cheaper. I wanted to add them in for for something else too eat. I had the bag open for two minutes and I drop two glasses right beside the still open bag of zupreem. Oh well new bag on the way. So Timneh eats a mash of veggies and sweet potatoes and some fruits, i mix with harrisons high potency pellets ground up. Higgins Safflower seed blend (I take out the peanuts) with nutriberries for afternoon and early evening in her bowl. Then dinner is nutriberries after i get her to eat whatever veggies i can. Shes not a fan of whole veggies, the inside of green beans her favorite. Hoping to have fresh veggies and fruits take up more of her diet in the future but taking what I can. So zupreem will be added to daily bowl and dinner. She has the wide variety of lafeber nutriberries, 3 kinds and avi cakes. She prefers the fruit delights ones to the originals. Sorry for rambling on getting late!:D

forgot to mention I haven't weighed her in about a week I have to be honest but for the couple weeks previous Timneh weighs 290 grams. She lost 5-7 grams over a couple of weeks through the diet change of no peanuts and sunflower seeds that she had been getting. Sometimes she weighs a couple grams more 292 or 293. My little TAG. Shes so awesome. Going to post her weight tomorrow after venting. Hoping she has put on a couple of grams. I think she looks good but I don't think she needs to loose any weight.

"The Timneh ranges between 11 - 13" (27.5 - 32.5 cm) in length from beak to tail, with a weight between 275 - 400 grams."

Wouldn't panic just yet IMO and she is still young? Put that energy to the conversion onto fresh foods. Have you tried adding a little wholewheat pasta finely chopped into the fine chopped veggies, also have a plate of some yourself they watch you like a hawk. Squashes and sweet potatoes are usually hits with parrots.

Here is a list of recommended foods I found FYI

  • Fresh vegetables you can offer include mustard greens, green peas, cucumber, young dandelion greens, sweet corn, beet greens, carrots, broccoli, unsprayed lettuce, chickweed, dandelions, green peppers, sorrel, spinach leaves, tomatoes and zucchini.
  • Fruits that you can offer include, apples, peaches, apricots, bananas, pears, plums, raisons, and most other fruits.

I have tried the whole wheat pasta and she was not interested in it at all. I tried several times. I'll be giving some of those veggies a try. We haven't tried the dandelion greens, mustard greens, chickweed or beet greens yet. I'm not sure what sorrel is but will be checking it out!! Thank you for the ideas.

so Timneh weighed in this morning at 295 grams. Thinking about it closer its probably been closer to two weeks since the last weigh in. I started slacking after I had fallen on some black ice and hurt my shoulder. Almost dislocated the doctor said.Might of come out and gone in broke the seal. either way its still sore and sucked cause i drive a manual transmission.

Hi, How are you doing with your shoulder?

Have you tried Quinoa if pasta is not a hit? My fussy pants doesn't mind it.

If cooked beans are readily accepted then put these into anything you want to try that is new, so she has to search through it to get to them, hoping she gets to like the taste in the meantime?
