I just purchased Higgins Worldly Cuisines at a pet store and wanted to know if your birds like it and if you would recommend it to others. I haven't given it to my birds yet, but all my birds LOVE cooked grains like quinoa, barley, brown rice, etc. so I think they will like this stuff as well.

Jack likes Higgins Mayan Harvest. Not so much World Cuisine. He's not to crazy about wet food. But Higgins is good stuff for sure.

The birds seem to like it! For some reason all my birds go crazy for anything cooked. However, I was shopping at the grocery store and came across some frozen butternut squash and thought to myself "hey, the birds love frozen veggies, maybe I should try that for the birds!" I bought a bag just for them and when I gave it to them, they ignored it. All three of them. First, I tried giving some to Ducky in my hand. He turned away and, after trying and trying to get him to try some, he finally picks it up. And drops it. Then I tried with Kermit and same thing, except he just pushes it aside to get to the yummy blueberry. Put some in Bluebell's dish, next thing I know she's flung it to the bottom of the cage. Those fids!!! Now I'm stuck with a big bag of squash that nobody wants to eat. Today I'm gonna try sweet potatoes. I've heard many birds like it, but we'll see...

You gave it to them frozen? Cook it through and maybe add some other stuff to it, little pasta, carrots, sweet potato and maybe their opinion will change?

Thawed, of course, but I didn't cook it after that. Kermit liked the sweet potato but Ducky and Bluebell didn't care for it.

Go for cooked next time, I feel.

@FlyBirdiesFly thanks for the suggestion as would not have known about these.

I am feeding as a change in measured portions for my RB2 who is looking a bit bored of veggie chop and sprouts. Feel there is some leeway to concoct something your self though especially with the ingredients listed LOL.

Just to say these got the thumbs up from Plum, going to order some more LOL.

Be more economical if you have more than one bird but it does keep for several days in the fridge.

Thanks again to the OP, FlyBirdiesFly for the suggestion.

My birds have tried them all. They absolutely go crazy for creamy zen. I just ordered a 2.5 pound bag. I add a bunch of veggies and some Harrison's mash. I actually have a big batch on the stove as we speak. Lol

The only thing I found odd was the cook instructions ie add water to packet and microwave, came out under done?

When I have had to hunt for some glasses to read the instructions they could at least be accurate LOL.

I have the larger bags which you cook on the stovetop. I prefer that so I can decide when it's done. I did use the small appetizer bags for the other flavors before I found which ones they preferred. The creamy zen does tend to turn into an oatmeal consistency when cooked and cooled. My birds love that consistency though so they seriously pig out on it and with Layla being ill, it's a great thing to see her so excited for it!

I have ordered a bigger quantity ie 13oz packets and this I hope will be less wasteful as I can cook just a cup for Plum.

Hugs to little Layla, ah.

Just to update a snippet of info re QUINOA

(Two of the Higgins Worldly Cuisines have Quinoa as the main ingredient, please bear in mind.)

This is apparently high in Iron and only two portions per week are recommended.

Info courtesy of L Moran in Parrots Magazine.

Take care with high levels of protein in your birds diet also as this has links to Gout.
