i know it is ok to feed these, do they need to be baked before feeding to the parrots or is raw ok and just mixed into the chop?

TIA

I follow the same rules for the seeds as the fruit. So I would bake the pumpkin but not the melon

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
My flock *loves* melon seeds! I place them on top of the chop, or else everything gets dumped in search of these tiny treats!

I follow the same rule as SilverSage.

For pumpkin or squashes, baked is the way to go, except when I get raw shelled pumpkin seeds at the supermarket since they're already dried out.

I'll usually split a squash in half and bake it in the oven without scooping out the insides unless I'm going to be eating it too. It makes it super easy to prepare a bunch of food without much work.

This raises another question I’ve been meaning to ask. Can I sprout fresh seeds? Will it work and is it safe? Thanks.
