Arika loves oranges.

We recently saw some Cara Cara Oranges at the local supermarket and decided to try a few.
Opening one up reveals almost a blood orange.

I enjoyed it but postponed giving her any since it was so different. A search of the forums showed orange, but I did not see mentions of Blood or Cara Cara oranges.

So I ask, if anyone is familiar with Cara Cara and / or Blood oranges and is there any reason why Arika should not enjoy some.

We would rather be safe and ask before presenting any to her.

The acid is a bit much for them. While they aren’t toxic, only provide small quantities please.

Thanks you for your reply. We just weren't sure since these oranges were so different from regular naval oranges.
Yes, small quantities and moderation is the key.

Thanks you

Specific variety does matter since some are slightly different in terms of acid and sugar content, but moderation is key and I would treat it as you would any other citrus. Interestingly enough, one of the compounds in blood oranges has been shown to possibly prevent obesity related fatty liver in mice.
