Finally Eating Pellets

Birdie wanted nothing to do with pellets, although she tried every one that I tried. Finally, if I soak the ZuPreem pellets for a few minutes, she gobbles them up. She’s been living off Nutriberries, Nutra-cakes and fresh fruit and veggies. But am glad I can finally add pellets to her menu.

Congrats, but why Zupreem? They are the most glucose/fructose overloaded ones you can get.
My avian vet had not seen them before (the clinic feeds pellets as wel as nutriberries to the resident parrots they have to help educate the students, and have most available brands in the house for the patiënts) when I brought them in she could not believe it wasn't some kind of human-marketed breakfast cereal.
Way to sweet to be animalfood.
(We both tasted them - and really...)

ZuPreem Fruit Blend is well liked by many birds and is generally accepted as better than an all-seed diet. I used to feed as part of my flock's diet and had concerns for the high sugar content and use of unnatural dyes. None would accept the "natural" or vegetable varieties.

I eventually made the decision to transition them to Harrison's by following the manufacturers conversion advice. Worked like a charm! Curiously, though they hated other drab colored pellets, they soon loved Harrison's. (high potency and adult coarse pellets are a neutral clay-like color)

IMO Zupreem is an acceptable part of a diverse diet, and superior to many poorly constructed seed mixes. Moistening makes the pellets more palatable, but greatly reduces "in the bowl" life.
