A did read a lot of topic and I saw that many recommended Top or Harrisonā€™s.
Which one is the best and in one order 1,2,3 the best ones thanks.
I wanna fed her with pellets and 30% fresh fruit and vegetable..until now she doesnā€™t wanna eat ,grapes ,bananas, pepers and carrots I donā€™t know why..
Thanks

Sunny a female B&G macaw;
Japie (m) & Appie (f), both are congo african grey;
All are rescues- had to leave their previous homes for 'reasons', are still in contact with them :)
Just read the labels and decide for yourself?

Zupreen has the highest sugar-content of all the availble pellets I could find,
(so for me that is a no-no)
I cannot afford Harrisons (ridiculously overpriced here)
(never even seen Top around here, just like Roundybush there is probably only 1 online-parrotfoodshop that sells it, if at all ...)

so I feed the best I can find and afford ;)
I alternate between Nutribird and the home-made variation one of the online shops has, also nutriberrries (they are part pellet).

so I guess that is my number one :)

Harrisons for me and mine. In a pinch Roudybush. I think the Harrisons tastes better and is easier to chew. JMHO

Harrisons suggest you start with High Potency for at least 6 months. Than depending on your species they suggest either switching to Maintenance or staying with HP.

Both of my birds are recommended to use Course but I feed the Fine. They waste much less I mean a LOT less.

Welcome to the forum!
My flock all gets Zupreem, it is my favourite pellet to feed other than Tropican. I don't feed Harrison's, but lots do so I'm sure someone else will pop in to help you with the different varieties:)

I was recommended to use Harrisonā€™s High Potency by my Avian vet. I had to use a schedule she gave me to switch Lola to pellets.

My vet suggested Harrisons pellets to me and my budgies took to them very quickly.
It's personal opinion mostly when it comes to what brand you decide to feed your bird. Get what is available and something your bird likes. Not every bird likes the same thing.

I wouldn't personally feed my birds Zupreem though. The last time I tried my cockatiel quickly removed them from the bowl. And hearing about the higher sugar content in them has made me less likely to want to use them again.

I feed TOPs and Zupreem natural and Zupreem fruit blend. Harrisonā€™s and Roudybush are both good foods as well. I read up on a variety of foods, and then started going through the ones that I felt were the best. Birds have individual preferences too, and my crew wonā€™t all eat the same pellets so I stock a few different foods. I apply the ā€œbest food that I can get them to eatā€ rule :)

So until now we have:
1 .Harrisonā€™s, which are pretty expensive, 40$ - 5 lb bag , Iā€™m curious how much that lasts
2. Zupreem , fruit and natural really decent price, I saw that the natural donā€™t have so much sugar.
3. Roudybush good price , but I saw people saying that they smell..
4. Tops I donā€™t know so much.

Can you please tell me the brand and the variety.. like zupreem fruit or natural.
Thanks for everything guys.

I just have one bird, so cost isn't a huge concern. Here's my vote. :)

http://www.harrisonsbirdfoods.com/
I feed Harrison's, supplemented by fresh healthy treats. My first, and later, my current avian vet recommended it. My bird loves the pellets now, but to get him converted, my avian vet suggested putting pellets out all day, and putting seeds (his old diet) out for two 15-minute periods a day. That would sustain him but leave him hungry enough to try new stuff. I presume the same technique could be used to get him to eat other healthy stuff, like fruits and vegetables! My guy was eating pellets in a couple of days, and now I can feed a good variety of other stuff, knowing he has the pellets as a basic. Pellets are out all day... fresh treats a few times a day. I also like Harrison's via mail because I never have to worry about out-of-date products.

Honestly, any of the above mentioned brands are very good, and all highly-recommended by my CAV of 25 years. When it comes to Zupreem pellets, the key is that you have to feed the NATURAL pellets, not the fruit pellets, as the fruit pellets are very high in sugar (and this usually goes for all brands of pellets, the fruit pellets usually have a lot of sugar). I fed Zupreem Natural pellets for over 20 years with great results, but I would not feed them the fruit ones.

Harrisons, Zupreem Natural, Roudybush, Tops, and the one I'm feeding now is Tropican, which my birds love, and which is fairly new but highly recommended by my CAV. I made the switch last year from the Zupreem Natural because I wanted to switch to their seed-mix, Tropimix, and their Tropimix seed-mix also contains the Tropican pellets in it, so I ended up switching their pellets. They absolutely love both the Tropican pellets and the Tropimix seed-mix. And if you read the ingredients they are right on-par with both Harrisons and Roudybush.

As far as the rest of your bird's diet, you do not want fresh fruit to make-up a very large part. Fresh veggies yes, absolutely, they need fresh veggies every single day. But fresh fruit is loaded with sugar, and as such you should only feed fresh fruit occasionally, in small portions. You should not feed him anywhere near the quantity of fresh fruit that you do fresh veggies.

Also, you should be giving him a fortified, varied, low-fat seed-mix every day as well as the pellets. It's extremely important for the health of their GI Tracts, and it's also good for them psychologically/mentally, because obviously they don't eat "pellets" in the wild, lol. The key to the seed-mix is choosing one that is low in fat, meaning it contains no sunflower seeds, and one that is extremely varied in it's ingredients. Tropimix, Sunseed Vita Prima, etc. are great options.

I just bought 1 pound of Harrisonā€™s to see if she likes it, and I was thinking maybe make a mix of Harrisonā€™s with zupreem natural or with roudybush.

This is a question sort of related to this thread. I started out with Harrison's based on recommendation from parrot owners. That went well for the 1st bag and ordered the 2nd bag. Now it seems like the pellets are wasted. Do you parrots want or need variety with pellets? I wish I would have known and would have ordered smaller bag 2nd time. Maybe I should shelve the Harrisons for a little bit and come back to them?

I converted my flock to Harrison's a few months ago and began with the "course" size. Definitely a lot of waste, some folks recommend downsizing to "fine." Will purchase a small bag of fine in the next week or so and experiment!
