I have 2 sweet budgies, Nimbus and Banana. They are both boys Nimbus is 17 months and Banana is 11 years old though I've only had him for about 3 weeks. would write more but that's the max
So I'm trying to get my budgies onto a healthier food mix but I don't know what to get them. I recently bought Zupreems sensible seed mix which I know is not a complete diet but my birds needed food and it seemed like the best in the store as my pet store only sells really low quality foods. but I noticed my one budgie started looking unwell he's underweight, his feathers look dull and unpreened and his feet are dry. his personality hasn't really changed but im worried. i only changed there food like 3-4 days ago and i changed them onto it pretty quick because i didn't have much of my other food left. no petstores near me sell very good food and one place near me sells harrisons which i hear is good but they only sell pellets and my one bird the sick one does eat pellets but rarely and my other still doesn't eat pellets. I'm willing to order foods and I think thats my only option and I don't care about the price. I've also hear rowdy bush is good and i'm interested in it but again thats only pellets and is it a good food? also my birds do eat fresh veggies but they still need a healthy staple diet.

Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
He may not be eating it. I mix Zupreem fruit blend with Volkman seed mix for my cockatoo (who came to me as a seed addict).
Avoid seed mixes containing sunflowers and peanuts--- Volkman recently added peanuts, so I am trying to find a different seed type now.
Birds have been known to starve when food is changed and they do not want to eat it. Depends on how stubborn the bird is, but it can and does happen to some.

What kinds of fruit/veg do they get? What were they eating before?

In all honesty, if they were eating junky stuff before and won't eat Zupreem, then I wouldn't try to dive right into Harrison's or Rowdy Bush (you can try, but they are not as colorful or sweet) so in my mind, it is like taking a kid used to fruity pebbles, trying frosted flakes instead and then diving right into plain bran flakes when those fail. Zupreem is often a "gateway" mix, but not always.

For parakeets you've got to feed the seeds and switch slow, you have to know for sure they are eating pellets, and you should be weighing the bird. But it is also best to get a bird that seems off in any way to an avain vet, birds hide being sick. Make sure they aren't bear a drsfty window, a lot of chill cones in even the best windows

This looks absolutely amazing! I have never seen a pellet mix without fillers before! The pellet size is quite big but I could figure something out for that, and it is very expensive but it seems totally worth it, i already signed up and i am definitely buying this. also my bird is looking much better now still a little underweight but much better. Thank you SO much!
