Cairo the Ekkie!
Hi guys! Trying to vary Cairo's chop diet a bit more. I've been sticking to the veggies and fruits that are on the ekkie diet lists online, but they're all quite Western-centric and hard to find the same wide selection here. That being said, I know a lot of the local produce also goes to Australia, so hoping some Aussies and other knowledgeable folks might be able to let me know if the following is parrot-safe or not.

(Sio/Kow) Peck Chye
Sio Peck Miow
Chye Sim
Kang Kong
Kai Lan (Miow)
Yau Mak Chye
Koo Chye
Ti Wan Chye
Wong Bok
Kau Kee
Cai Xin
‘Local’ Endives
Laksa Leaves
Curry Leaves
Water Cress
Sweet Potato Leaves
Bittergourd
Brinjal (type of egglant)
Bottle Gourd
Snake Gourd
Green Marrow

(Just an fyi/fun fact, 'cai' and 'chye' and 'choy' all mean basically "veggie", just dialect differences. So the Western bok choy means 'white veggie')

I can't help you with a lot of those, but obviously both Bok Choy and Pak Choy are good, and I would think that any type in Endives would also be fine...I have also fed Watercress and different fresh Curry leaves, as my step-father's brother is in the Air Force and his wife is originally from Thailand. They own an authentic Thai restaurant and grocery in Florida, and when they visit they bring me all kinds of goodies, and often ship me fresh produce for both the birds and my Beardie. I'm familiar with the Brinjal, the Curry leaves, and the Laksa, and my guys and my Beardie like them all!

At least I know now we can add in watercress, brinjal, curry and laksa leaves! I'm sure he'd love the colour and flavour difference :) Thanks!!

They love anything curry! I make all kinds of curry dishes (both Thai and Indian) as I grew-up in that environment, and we forget that birds do not have the receptors for capsaicin, so you can feed them a ghost pepper and they love it...I'm often sweating when I make a Korma and they're loving it!
