Iā€™m having great success getting my young YNP to eat fruits and vegetables, but of course, not everything. He still wonā€™t touch apple, banana and mango, for example.

So Iā€™m considering firing up my cheap dehydrator and seeing if heā€™ll go for that stuff, but does the process affect the fruit negatively in any way, like the sugar composition?

Not sure dietary requirements of an Amazon, but yes, we use a dehydrator.

The problem with dehydration is it compacts the size of the food. So if a fresh banana slice would take 6 bites to finish, now it'll only take 2-3 bites. Which means they can easily consume so much more sugar. Considering that Amazons easily get fat-related health issues, I might hesitate on dehydrating fruits.

Yes, there is a little bit of nutrition lost, but since your guy is still eating other veggies, it sounds like he'll be fine.

With an ekkie, we have to limit his fruit intake. So I dehydrate things like butternut squash instead.
