Archie loves dandelions. Okay like this?

I just rinsed a few off and gave it to him whole, with stem. He’s loving it. Only the petals, though. That’s all I could find.

Do you guys trim off the stem?

FYI, for yourself, raw is good, but!

For a slice of heaven:
Rinse well(large bowl where they don’t touch the bottom). Course chop. Crazy amount of garlic! Start the garlic in olive oil, the moment it starts to toast, or translucent, throw in the greens. Cover and steam. It absolutely needs salt to make it sweat and to enhance the bitter flavor. A dish by itself or over a delicate pasta!
Broccoli Rabe is great for this also!
For the garlic, don’t crush, just a rough chop!

Some folks add bacon for a smoky flavor!

At first, I thought you meant for Archie. My “people” told me no garlic, and certainly no oil, for him.

Come on up here,you can harvest all the dandelion greens you can carry. All 100% organic from my backyard. No sprays, no ferilizers, no nitrogen, just tons of dog S**T. RInse well.

And yah, they are great for parrots.

Check another one off of Archie’s preferred foods. Sweet potato.

I simply cut a hunk off, microwaved it, let it cool, and cut it into cubes. He’s diving into it right now like a young sailor visiting Bangkok for the first time.

No issue with the skins, right? I pulled them off some of the pieces because I didn’t know if they affect desirability or his health.

And for dessert, Archie is now enjoying cherries for the very first time. Seeded, of course. Photo below.

I gotta tell you, I feel so damn lucky how receptive he is to trying and enjoying so many different foods. And I have sympathy for those who can’t move their birds away from seed. It’s not your fault, but it should definitely be a goal. Not only is this varied diet so good for them, it’s fun to see their faces...their curiosity...when showing them the cup before you even put it in the cage.
