My first attempt at birdie bread using my own receipe

So I decieded to make my first batch of birdie bread mainly because I wanted to use up my pretty bird pellets quicker (I still have a few weeks worth) so I can start them on the Zupreem natural pellets. I have looked and looked and looked for a birdie bread receipe I like but no luck so I decided to create my own using bits and peices of others. So what I did was put 1 cup of whole wheat flour, a little over 3 tablespoons of honey, 3 tablespoons of orgainic flaxseed (which I called my birds vet right before and he said it was safe for them), an egg, some pellets that were slightly ground up (it didn't work to well, but I also trid to use a coffee grinder), an apple gratd, about 6 or 7 baby carrots grated, and some roman lettuce cut up. I'm baking it at 350 degress ferinheight for 30 minutes and will see how it turns out.

Re: My first attempt at birdie bread using my own receipe

All the respect to you, when ever I try and make something out of my head it turns out a complete disaster!

I started a thread a long time ago asking about bird bread, here it is and it has the recipes that I used. The bread lasted for months and she absolutely LOVED it. I froze it in small blocks and sometimes added a little fruit juice to it for a different flavour.

It did not turn out too great. It was hard and yeah not the best the birds pecked at it but that was all. I'm feeding the rest to the chickens here and hopefully the rooster will be nice to me now.
