Stubborn parrot

Hello!

I was looking for a bit of advice for my parrot. Iā€™ve had a Senegal for a few months now, previously had cockatiels growing up and been around a lot of birds. The previous owner had her on a seed based diet, she was a little bit addicted to sunflower seeds when I got her. Iā€™ve managed to get rid of the sunflower seeds and changed her onto Harrisonā€™s potency course, still within first 6 months at the moment. I havenā€™t used Harrisonā€™s before and expected some trouble changing over but she took to it quickly. My issue is veg, Iā€™ve tried everything, thereā€™s not a veg she will eat. She wonā€™t eat chop, she wonā€™t eat it broke down, chunks, nothing. Iā€™ve put a little brown rice in her chop and she picked that out and left the rest. She eats carrots occasionally but it takes some effect. She eats fruit easily but I know she needs to get veg being on a pellet diet. Iā€™ve been weighing her daily and giving some seed on a night as Iā€™m worried about her losing weight. Iā€™m worried sheā€™s not eating enough, sheā€™s eating the pellets but not enough compared to what she was on with her seed diet.

Any advice is welcome. Iā€™ve tried a lot of tricks Iā€™ve read on here. Pretending to eat her chop myself just gets barking and growls from her šŸ˜‚ Sheā€™s not easily tricked ha.

I search this sites forum's and sub-links, plus I use google and the search window in youtube.com a lot. using the phrase parrot and whatever topic i am pursueing at the time. In general I have found that parrot diet IS in large part according to "species" and individual birds. They all prefer their meals at room temp. Some can be made in bulk and saved frozen using an ice tray for portion sizeing, packed in sandwich bags and then thawed to room temp to serve. Another particular is like a sweet potatoe raw, steamed and what size they like it in. Size is a big deal for some birds. Large, medium, small chunks or shredded even smaller.
So start with small btches, done different ways and note what it eats the most of and how. It will take patience and time to figuire it out. lol Try little clothespins and clip veggies to bars of cage within reach of a perch. Wrap them around treats. It will take awhile. rofl jh
