Many times! I buy in bulk(yes, just two GCC) and store everything in the freezer! I move everything from the bags into soda bottles.

As my good friend has noted, its a fairly common question, most often asked when one's home is filled with moths...

Freezing should be a standard practice with all dry foods for one's Parrot. We use a one month minimum with our Parrot dry foods prior to any use with the remainder left in the freeze until needed. If the dry food will be out for 5 - 7 days, keep the unused in the refrigerator.

Containers!!! Since the size of individual items found in different dry food mixes common are based on the size of one's Parrot and they force one to be choosey regarding the container opening!

We have a DYH Amazon and that has us using a much wide container opening than a soda bottle. Albeit, there are days I wished that he would be happy with such a container as they are free after drinking the soda.

Remember to date and list the number of containers in a group: 1 of 5, etc...

But dang it this shopping trip I didn’t check the new seed bag fir bugs first,,,, ugh
Yep into the freezer it went...,

Usually I do one night in the freezer then put in glass jars. I also put each new bag in its own container till I know it’s big free...

In a pinch, I have used ziplock bags! I said soda bottles, but reality, no one in my surrounding family drinks that stuff! I beg everyone for sports drink bottles and the great is to score Pedialyte bottles! Wide mouth and the square shape is great!

Going to start looking for wide mouth bottles as we also do not drink soda... only water bottles around here.

I'm also orderings some more lock n lock containers, bird feed bag size, and refrigerator size . these lock n lock containers work great in my pantry for pasta, sugar, flower, and sandwiches, etc. should work great for seeds and pellets.

I just use human food large glass canisters. I got mine st home goods for very cheap , I have one huge one that will hold 2 bags of feed. Their differ duzes like they sell fir flour, rice, beans ext..,

Just don’t use metal ones, as often has toxic zinc and you don’t want their food rubbing up against it.

Zinc is toxic and can make them chronically sick before killing them. And it seems to be used in everythin

This is a great question.

Short term storage: Frost Free
Long term Storage: Chest

Remember that Freezing slows the aging process. Counter /shelf temperature will cause the dry Parrot food to become stale quicker than Refrigerator and much quicker than Freezer storage.

That all said, you have a Mac and unless you are buying the truly big bulk bags, most food is eaten fairy quickly or shared with the rest of the World. :D
