I have made birdie bread out of corn muffin mix before. Is this safe?
I mix the corn bread mix in a bowl with some baby food vegetable and baby food fruit....I then add some raisin, nuts and regular vegetables..If I need more liquid I add baby juice. Oh and an egg, shell and all...
Is this a safe recipe...the birds love it. Let me know what you think. :20:

Can you give me more information on the exact recipe? How much of each ingredient? Is it cooked in a muffin pan or cookie sheet? For how long/what temp? Thank you!

Here is how I make mine.....
two boxes of the Jiffy corn muffin mix, dump it in a bowl
Add an egg, shell and all. I try to break the shell up as much as possible
I then add a jar of baby food fruit and baby food vegetable. Just the small jars
If it needs more liquid you can add some water but I usually add some 100% juice. Again from the baby food section
Then you can add whatever you want from there. I usually add a bag of mixed frozen veggies (no salt added) a handful of nuts, maybe some raisins and a handful of birdseed. Sometimes I leave out the birdseed. The birds love it best when I use fresh veggies.
I guess not all birds like it but mine love it. They all purr when they eat it.
I usually cook it for about a half hour on 350 degrees but keep an eye on it. It all depends on how thick you make it. I use a 8X8 pan
I cut it into squares but I think next time I will try using a muffin pan.

Kitt, I made some just like yours a while back, and my bird loved it! I cubed it all up, and keep it in the freezer. My two little dogs beg for a piece when Rio gets some, they like it too! lol

The first time i made birdie bread the recipe called for millet seed, So i made up a big pan of it and i pulled it out of the oven and put it on the stove to cool off, i come back 20mins later and find my brother tryed to eat it and got a mouthful of the seed lol.
