I've seen the numerous reports that cardboard tubes from toilet paper and paper towels aren't safe because of possible zinc toxicity from the glue used on them. For that reason, I haven't used any. But I recently finished off a roll of aluminum foil and thought the thick cardboard roll might make a good toy. There was some glue on it, but it easily came off when I rubbed my hand against it.

Being that it's on a food product, what are the odds that this would be a safe chew toy for birds? I was thinking of slicing them up into "bagels".

if it has glue you probably shouldnt use it, you know.
its safe for for us, cause we arent chewing on it directly. plus, if you need to take it off, you would have to scrub it badly with the foil.....i see the glue came off, but there might be traces of it still left.

its annoying, right!!
i heard someone use toilet rolls. i think it must be a safer option.
well you wait for someone better to come along. i really am not very sure.
