Anyone have a cargo net or Jolly Ball?

I'm going to be moving within a couple months, and I'm getting my bird area all planned out right now. What color to paint, where to put the cages and furniture, then the best part - decorating! What new accessories to buy!

I already have a Jolly Ball (Google parrot jolly ball for a pic), but I haven't put it up yet. I still need a stand to hang it on. Anyone ever see these or use these? I originally bought it for Raven, but thinking if he has "hormones" he won't be too fun to remove from it. I think I'll give it to the smaller guys, Robin and the Ruppell's instead.

I'm thinking of getting one of those rope cargo nets. I've never tried one, and I'm wondering how easy it is to get poop off of the rope. The one I want to get at My Safe Bird Store has 5x5" spaces. I wonder if it would have a higher likelihood of getting pooped on if it were hanging straight down, or put up at an angle? Yes I know, everything gets pooped on, but I try to strategically place things to avoid it as much as possible.

I also found a small hanging stand that I MUST have.

I have about 3 nets and i have never had to remove poop from them.
Mine only like to poop when they stand on something sturdy,so the cage bars also never get pooped on.

Oh the playroom planning is so much fun!!

I have been considering a cargo net as well, let me know if you like it. I was also wondering about keeping them clean and how difficult that is or isn't. When I was thinking about it I was taking into account that eclectus don't like things that feel less stable but now that an Amazon is here I am considering it again.

I was referring to a tall stand made of metal tubing which bends over at the top with a hook on it (made to hang a small bird cage). I would like them for boings, swings, jolly ball, etc

I've seen one at a bird store for about $35. Online from the places who sell these (I've seen various websites, Amazon) are about the same price, but I'm sure shipping isn't cheap because of the long shape. Not sure where I'll buy from yet.

I would like to get a jolly ball and a few cargo nets, but I can't figure out how to hang them without drilling holes everywhere and I would like to avoid that if at all possible. Ha.

Decorating and getting all the cool toys for the feathered kids is always so much fun. I know you're still in the planning stage, but be sure to post pictures of the play room once you've finished it.

Oh I'll definitely post pics! It'll be in about a couple months though.

I hear you about the stand/hanger. They're sort of an obscure item that not everyone wants, since they're really made to hang those little tiny cages. I thought it was a good idea for a jolly ball, boing, swing, etc.

I should have gotten it when I saw it at a store. I hope I see one again. I'd rather go someplace to buy it rather than having that sort of thing shipped.

For the cargo nets, I will have to hang from the ceiling. Unless you have a creative way to do it, for example tie it between cages (if birds get along).

Chili the Too's FB page is too cute! I want a cargo net but I think they are too big for a small conure so I got a woven mat toy on amazon and hung it on the side of her cage (just like the picture complete with the baby links). She loves it. I would love to have a truly dedicated space for her and do it up right! Can't wait to see pix of the new place!

There are cargo nets for small birds too from some brands. The one I'm getting has 5x5" holes and i think that's still okay for the smaller Poicephalus. I guess maybe it will be pushing it though, so a Dusky being a bit smaller might need one made for small guys.

Jolly balls are hit and miss. My macaws and my CAG loves them. My amazons recoil in horror at the sight of them.

Cargo Nets, however, are "DA BOMB!" I have two of them that are 6 ft. by 8 ft. incorporated into my playstands, and smaller 3 ft by 4 ft nets incorporated into my smaller portable playstands.

My birds have practically lived on these things for over a decade!

I also hook them up with baby links.

How do you wash them? Are they easy to keep clean? Thanks

Easy. I take them down, and take them to the laundrymat. Wash them in the washer and hang to dry.

You could also look into Seagrass mats (mysafebirdstore) -I believe they come in different sizes, but you kinda do the same thing as the net- attach it to the side or cage-to-cage with toddler links. I tied both ends together to make a tunnel, stuffed it with paper and toys- she love it! But then I chopped it in half and made a basket to hold her toys. Lol

i have a cargo net on coopers playgym. it actually hangs horizontally because of the way the playgym is setup. he still loves it and it works great, gives him a much larger area to climb/play. i havent had to remove any poop from it, i guess he just doesnt go there.

Anyone have a cargo net or Jolly Ball?
