I just buy the Stainless Steel ones from Home Depot or Lowes, they have VERY heavy duty ones there !!

I have nickel plated and have looked into it. From what I understand, nickel plated are perfectly safe. They just won't be as durable as stainless steel would be and tend to rust quickly if washed often, so you have to keep a good eye on them. If you had the choice, I would stay with SS.

How do you tell if it's nickel plated? I know with SS a magnet is very weak.

Well that's the problem with anything plated, The plating always comes off
If you get SS you can forget about them
The good ones at HD and LOWES are so heavy duty even a big mac can't torque them out
(if you tighten them with 2 pliers) They are rated @ 2000 LBS
