Safety Check

Everyone,

Fortunately I don't remember hearing of any serious accidents lately related to hazardous conditions in the past month. If I missed a posting related to this please forgive me.
Please, lets keep it that way !!!

This is just a reminder to check the :
- Chain disconnects, tighten as required
- Bars and latches our feathered friends houses.
- Potentially harmful household items, chemicals, sharp objects, etc.
- High temperatures around cooking areas, crock pots, etc.
- Frayed toys that could present fibers for ingestion.
- Ensuring that ceiling fans are off when our babies are out and about.

I'm sure there are many more but I just wanted to kick this off as a reminder to ensure our babies stay safe.

Always a good thing to remind members about. I especially check the screw type links, Salty spends a LOT of time on his play chain and all the toys are hanging from that. And of course he loves to mess with the links. Trubblesome as screw links are NEVER EVER EVER USE SPLIT RINGS, ,like the kind you use with your car keys, to hold anything your parrot can get to. Its crazy easy for them to get their beak edge wedged between the links and get stuck or worse have the ring go further into the inside of their beak.
They owe their safety to us. Lets not let them down.

Al's right, those "split rings" are so convenient but have no place near a bird!

And, as always, a reminder to the membership that in the Amazon Forum and as part of the Sticky Thread: I Love Amazons - ..., within that huge Thread is a Thread that provides an expensive list of Segments, in which at or very near the end is a Segment that provides what a detailed Emergency (First Aid) Medical Kit would include and the Poison Control Emergency Call Number.

Please make a copy of this Segment and have it on-hand! Anytime someone asked what you need, reference the list. Build the kit based on your growing knowledge and the further your are away from Emergency Care. In many cases, an Avian Experienced Vet or Tech can talk you though emergency care of your Parrot - If You Have The Needed Supplies!
