My sister works in a public library. People donate books to them all the time. They pick out the salable ones and sell them to raise funds, and then a bunch get discarded. We're not talking classics here, more things like romance novels and cheap mysteries and old reference books. So she's started saving the discards for Gus. We learned not to give him an entire book, because at some point he will puke on it which is gross, so we rip out sections and give him. A stack of books lasts forever. No color print, of course, no shiny pages, and no covers. He LOVES to destroy books.
So you guys that live near a library, maybe stop by and ask if they have a similar system, and if you can have some of the unwanted books. Solves two problems at once!
