So i was browsing the toy range of a local pet store and came across this toy. I had never seen this one on sale before but was concerned about the safety for birds as it runs on batteries. The product says that it is suitable for small to medium birds. As we know birds can and will often find ways to break into something. I am concerned that if someone were to place a toy like this in with a bird like a conure (medium bird, so safe right) that the bird may be able pry the plastic cases apart and get to the electronic components inside. Which contains the batteries (toxic chemicals) and small electronic components that could be broken off and ingested by a parrot . And what's to say that someone may not realise that the toy is for smaller birds and were to give it to a larger bird.
So what does the Parrot forums community think? Am i being overly concerned or is it actually a danger to our precious fid's? I could possibly contact the shop in question and alert them that the toy could be dangerous. Anyway, i saw this and was concerned, safety for all birds is our number one concern!.
