A few days ago, my long awaited tree stand arrived. It took over a month to get here, but it was well worth the wait. It’s AWESOME!! As soon as I unpacked it and rolled it into the birdroom, the fids were all over it. It’s also huge, probably around 5 feet tall. The best thing about it is that the branches are not slippery, unlike those Java tree stands, and they’re the perfect size for my birds. It’s clear that this tree was designed for birds of this size, and it can be tricky to find one when most of them are geared toward larger birds. Anyway, all my birds LOVE it, and I decorated it with lots of toys to make it even more exciting. When I was still considering whether to buy it, I was concerned that my birds would be afraid of it and it would end up unused. Well, I was wrong! They fly to it all the time and climb all over it.

Thank you, looks like shipping is problematic though from the listing. I might just make one if I can ever get clark off of me.

I really like that design and your birds seem to also.

Yellow Shoulder Amazon, Salty
Wow what a great fit for your flock!! I got Salty one of those Java tree ones, he hates it and I can only use it as a place keeper because he will just nose dive to the floor if I leave him on it for more than a few minutes, even with vet tape wrapped around everything. And this stupid piece pf wood was like $94. Thats why I always take Salty shopping with me when going for toys and stuff.

Yours is perfect size and everything. My luck Salty would say to himself "I dont quite like the look of THAT branch. Nope, better stay away from the whole thing". Snooty darn Amazons. Lets see ya try and come up with a positive for this one Mr. Boats.

Just an idea, maybe put Salty’s favorite toys and treats on the Java tree and act all excited about it, and maybe he’ll fly over to check it out. But if the branches are all slippery and uncomfortable then I can understand why he doesn’t like it.

That's one impressive stand! I have a pair of small ones that can be toted around as needed, but I like the idea of a mini-tree park-playground for the fids haha.

:gcc:

I got it on Ebay. There’s one for sale here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Small-Bird-Perch-Tree/253963663486?hash=item3b2169f87e:g:yWsAAOSwU1Nb3doV

Could I be nosy and ask what the shipping cost you?

Shipping was $75 for me but I think it depends on the location. You can call the seller for more information. Since you have larger birds, you might want to look at the bigger/thicker stands. Here’s one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Funky-Curv...665303?hash=item3b2169ff97:g:takAAOSwHt1b3dqc

Thanks,

I'm no more distant for Kalifornia than you are and that shipping you paid wasn't bad at all especially if it included packaging. I also appreciate the link to the larger ones.:)

I think the shipping is more like $100 on the large trees though. Be sure to look around at the other tree stands this guy has for sale :)

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Really nice!

I was lucky enough to find similar in a bird store, but my flock remains afraid. :(

That's a very nice stand, nice looking too...I have made many like this myself and they are quite easy to make yourself if you have the necessary tools and wood/branches, the rope toys/parts that are hanging from them can be purchased literally for $1 at any Dollar Tree as they are sold as Dog toys there, amazingly. They have the rope loops and the knotted ones, and you can make all kinds of different hanging rope "perches/swings/toy holders" out of them...And the bases can either be built easily from plywood/lumbar you buy at Lowes/Home Depot, OR you can buy an already-built square base just like that, in different sizes, from any Walmart in the arts/crafts aisle that has the different wooden crates and such...The sell already-built square bases just like that for $10 or less depending on how large you buy, everything from small table-top bases to large floor bases like this...

Question for you on the one you bought here though...How did they attach the individual branches to the main "trunk" and to each other? That's always what varies the most between Tree-Stands like this, the way that they actually attach the individual branches to the stand and to each other..Some actually nail them, some use a heavy-duty epoxy/glue, some tie them tightly using jute/hemp, etc. I have done it all different ways and haven't found one that was better than the others...I always get to the same point when building one of these and get stumped...I build the square base that is actually "hollow" underneath so that the bottom of the main trunk can drop through and be secured, i find a main-branch to be the main "trunk" of the stand and get it secured to the base, and then I'm ready to start designing where the branches go as far as attaching them to the main-trunk and then the ends of them to each-other, an I always hesitate on how I'm going to attach them...

The branches are connected by screws. There are actually three branches that make up the “trunk” of the tree.

This is Ducky’s new favorite spot...

Thanks for answering that question...The ones that have used screws in the past seemed to me to be the safest, as they have no "nails" sticking out or having the potential to stick-out/come through, nor do they have any potentially toxic glue/epoxy on them that the birds could chew at...
