Giggles - Red Crowned Kakariki
so I brought a cheep cat toy to see if Giggles would like it. One of those plastic round balls with a bell in it. she can pick it peck it grab with her feet.

I feel so bad after giving it to her. Put in the bottom of her cage. She pecked at it. Made noise. Jumped half way up the cage and looked at me as if to say WTF...

So I figured see how she goes with it for a bit before taking it out. :green1: Also brought a cuttlefish bone for her

Rio (Yellow sided conure) sadly no longer with us
I had similar toys for my Rio. He was VERY specific with his. Out of like 9 different balls all very similar there was only 3 he would go near. A larger yellow one he would only touch in his cage, then there was a small orange one and a small orange and green one which he would only play with outside the cage. Every other ball made him nervous (strange creature he was)

Ha Ha, I think we all go through that! I have one of those in the bottom of each of my guy's cages, along with other little foot-toys for them...They all love them except for my Senegal, he did the same thing, he pushed it with his beak once and then climbed up to the perch at the top of his cage, like "What the hell is that?"...They usually end-up loving to play with those balls, even though they scare them at first. My Green Cheek lays on his back on the bottom of his cage with the ball on his feet. He loves it.

Good idea on the Cuttlebone, and a Mineral Block is also a great thing to add along with the Cuttlebone. They not only get extra Calcium and Phosphorous from them (and more from the Mineral Blocks), but they also keep their beaks trimmed very well.

My GCC Kermit loves to throw those balls at the bottom of his cage and make a huge ruckus. He chases after them, throws them over and over again and bangs them against the cage bars. It’s almost like he’s throwing a giant tantrum to get my attention. Bluebell also enjoys throwing the balls all around her cage and running after them. My other 2 birds won’t touch anything at the bottom of their cages.

I buy them for Levi all the time. I use a knife sharpener & make a larger hole, so I can put his favorite nuts in them.
