I made a simple PVC stand and wraped the single perch. We also wrapped the verticle legs on the play stand. Now the CAG, Galdalf, will tear at this, but the Quaker, Thor, doesn't seem to care.

With that, how safe is this stuff? It's not the vet stuff that's bitter, which is poisoness, for the package says FDA approved, though I'm sure that's for people.

I have just been researching this myself so your post is timely indeed. I found and read this 2012 post: "02-13-2012, 10:55 AM

Is "Vet Rap" safe ?
I've heard yes and no."

Questions for clarity sake:

In this year of 2019 is Vet Wrap safe or poisonous as quoted within this post?

Is there a 'parrot-specific' perch wrap that this team recommends?

Thank you,
Debbie:red1:

I looked up “vet wrap” on the interwebz and was directed to my local equestrian shop that sells the stuff they use to tape up horses legs, so I bought some. When I got it home and unwrapped it, it had a very pungent, unpleasant odour and I was too paranoid to use it. The smell has since dissipated but I’m still too scared to use it. No idea if it’s safe, thoughts anyone...?

We removed the wrap, as the CAG didn't like it. He'd chew it, but didn't like standing on it. I made a small counter perch from PVC, with the single perch wrapped didn't touch it.

I removed the wrap, and replaced the PVC with a wood dowl, now he loves it.

Yeah!
