Hello !
I am picking up a rainbow lorry tomorrow and need to put stuff in his room and cage.

I have a few questions and hope you could help me. I want to buy a cork seating perch and hang sisal rope (they sell for cat trees) and put hazelnut branches with bark in the room. Also branches of willow without bark. In addition I thought to give him half of an empty coconut shell. He has already some toys where he is now that I could take , but they are all made out of plastic and I am not sure.
I am collecting the branches myself. There is a street about 100 meters away but many trees come before the Hazelnut tree and it is not a busy street.
I would wash the branches, but should I also bake them? Or is the oven poisonous like the Teflon pans?
Speaking of ,If I use a teflon pan in the kitchen downstairs in the house and the bird is upstairs with doors closed and windows open everywhere, is it still bad to use them?
I appreciate any advise! :)

Yes you'll want to bake the branches too to ensure any bugs inside are killed -- the oven is not bad and will not harm your bird by cooking anything in it. Put the temperature to the lowest setting (200 degrees) and you can bake them for 30-45 min. Then they should be okay.

No Teflon at all is recommended.

Hello again ennovy.

On the topic of your oven, the only thing you want to avoid is using it’s self-cleaning function if it has one, the fumes emitted at those much higher temperatures are dangerous for birds.

Thank you both very much !
I did a lot of research, but it is all a bit confusing. I feel much better since I am asking extra questions here. ( As for why it is confusing : I checked in German and Spanish forums and here about parrot foods and so on, and somehow the list of safe things differ slightly.) I now just get what is considered safe everywhere. Hope you both have a good day.
