Good bell for Amazon? Or biggest mistake I could make?

I’m considering a bell for my juvenile YNA, but am I out of mind for doing so? As it is, he only has about 20 minutes of crazy time in the morning, where he’ll squawk a little and acts like he’s on meth.

Otherwise, he attacks his wood chew toys with gusto, and isn’t very noisy.

Am I asking for trouble by getting him a bell?

I have a toy that all my big birds like to play with and I think is safe.

It's a rubber ball (soft rubber) that is not solid, it has holes all around it and a bell in the middle that the birds cant reach.

Bingo my YNA attacks that thing like you would not believe.
Merlin shakes it up and down and regurgitates to it.

I think it's a good compromise play/fun and safe.
I am at work so I can't enclose a picture right now...
hang on I may have a video of Bingo playing with it I will check.

I was thinking conventional bells with a clapper.

My son Conure has two of those bells and balls. One in her big cage and one in her small cage.

She rings them to summon me, or to wake me up.

There actually her favorite thing. When I got her at the store that was one in her cage and it was clearly the only toy in her cage that she cared about. It’s also the only toy that I’ve seen her concerned if she thought I was going to remove it from her cage.Being inside the bowl like that, it’s pretty safe and it’s really loud, I would recommend it for any bird.

Prime considerations for bell construction are material and security of the "clapper" within. Stainless steel is by far safest, particularly if your amazon tends to play with beak and tongue. Many parrots remove the clapper and bite, potentially ingesting particles. Far too many inexpensive bells have lead components, leading to poisoning. You'll have to shop to find a safe noisemaker!!

Hi! I use a pipe bell for my macaw and goffins. They really like them and haven't been able to remove the ringer. There are powder coated and stainless steel varieties.

I’ll check where I bought my bird. I know the type you’re talking about.

And I think I’ll put it on his play table/stand instead of in the cage, so he doesn’t drive me crazy with it.

Connie my Conure has a large bell,which she loves to bash about and swing on, She has a few mad minutes on it every day,then the rest of the time dings it if she wants me.......which is every time Im out of sight!

I’m with Master Wrench, stainless steel tubular bells are great, no “mystery metal” and the long narrow shape makes it *virtually* impossible for the bird to dislodge the clapper. Plus they have a beautiful tone
