Celestial Parrotlets.

Pied green male
Hi all, I'm new on here and could really use some advice. My pair of celestial parrotlets laid/hatched 4 eggs. They parented them well, and have now decided it's time to kick the eldest chick out. 3 of 4 of the chicks are able to groom/feed themselves, but the youngest still seems to need mum to feed her. The problem is. .. mum doesn't want to feed her and just attacks her
Baby sits in the food tray, but looks hopefully at the older babies to feed feed her.

Any ideas? I have no experience in hand rearing. I don't think she's far off feeding herself. Is there any food I can offer her to try herself?

Thanks for any advice!

Oh no :( , Well I can't give u tips on hand feeding or why u might use to entice him to eat on his own , if he is being beat up I might suggest taking him out from moms care, hand feeding is complicated and even though I've done it before successfully I still worry I'll mess it up, I wouldn't recommend to someone with no experience. You can buy formula for baby birds at pet stores but I guess that depends on where u live and how good a pet store it is and maybe u find someone on here in your area to help teach u to hand feed and all the necessary items need when breeding. Good luck hope someone can give u more advice!!

oh boy, sometimes that happens, mostly to the youngest one.

it's hard to watch when the youngest one isn't being fed....something so simple right?
you can try and hand feed it, but chances are it might reject you trying.

I'd offer some millet, it's something birds LOVE and they will all pick at it, even the baby should :)...if he doesn't, then try hand feeding....good luck!

Is the father not feeding the youngest one too??? Like crimson suggested, do that first if not, then do the hand feeding. If he gets hungry enough he might accept the formula. Tough at first until he try it, he will try to reject but keep trying. Until he gets a taste of it and realize it's food, he might just takes it from you easily.
