July POTM Contest

The Persistence of Time

The theme for this month’s contest is
The Persistence of Time. Please tell us your bird’s age if you know, rough estimate or best guess if you don’t and how long your bird has lived with you. Please submit a recent photo of your bird during his or her favorite part of the day with a brief explanation. Here are a few examples.

Spike
Spike has been with Terry57 for three very happy years
Spike is 31 years young
A highlight of Spike’s day is a telephone chat with his Auntie, lucky me. He sings the sweetest song.

Harry (female)
Harry has been with us for six years
Estimated age 7-9 years
Bath time is her happiest time of day

Sweet Pea
Sweet Pea has been a family member for five years
We think she’s about 5 1/2 years old
Her favorite part of the day is dinner when fresh chop is served

Entries for July’s contest may be submitted through July 28, the poll will be open July 29 through July 31, the winner will be announced August 1st. The winner of the contest will receive a one year Supporting Membership and the winning photo will be on our homepage for one month. No photoshopping or videos in this contest, please. Only one official entry per household. Just for fun photos are always welcome but please designate one specific photo as your entry. Thanks to all who participate, best of luck.

Julio,
Double Yellow-Headed Amazon

Julio is 22 years young and has been part of our family for 7.5 years and as with any Amazon, he took over ownership within days of his arrival.
Julio's favorite part of the day is when he is reminding his staff that their opinions are interesting, but really do not matter!

"KISE" She was born in Jan, 2018.
"Akashi" He hatched 07/13/2021.

LONG STORY! **CHILLS** :XD: :D JUST FOR FUN!

Kise has been with me for 14months. The breeder didn't know when she was hatched. Her son went in to checked/cleaned the nest and he got bitten by her (Kise). :D :D

He thought it was the snake bites; he called his mom and they opened up the nest and saw Kise was sitting there and doing her biting/attacking mode. ^_^ (By the look of her feathers growing, they were guessing she about was four-five months old. She was fed by her parents since she got took out off of the nest.) They went to grabbed the towel and took her out off of the nest and doing hand feeding. She was a biter since day one.

I love her at first sight, then knowing she has the same story I have; because I don't know when I was born... I picked my own Birthday and name... ^_^

This pic below drawn by my friend few days ago. The pic is at Michael's right now for special framing. **dances* :)

I think Kise is about 17months old.

Goofy (YNA), Oscar (Goffin 'too). Foster bird Betty (RLA). RIP Cookie, 1991-2016 ('tiel), Leo (Sengal), Charlotte (scarlet macaw). Grand-birds: Liam (budgie), Donovan (lovebird), RIP Angelo (budgie)
Betty is approximately 40-50 and has been with us for two years. She came to us on a long term foster agreement but her human's life took some unexpected turns and she is here with us permanently. Stephen Squawking is approximately 6.5 weeks old and is a rehab failure who was homed with us last week. Betty has decided that Stevie is her baby and is passing along her wisdom to the next generation.

Jacob the blue and gold macaw
Jacob the blue and gold macaw, he is 15 years old, my mother had him for 15 years (adopted while he was still on formula at 2 months old) till she could no longer take care of him due to health reasons and I adopted him about 2 months ago. His favorite pass time is hanging out with his favorite person Mel (me) and doing tricks for me and also giving kisses.

My official entry if short videos are allowed:

First, I want to extend a special thank you to Allee (always Huckleberry to me) for being so kind as to take on this month's POTM for me at the very last minute. (Though you wouldn't know it was the last minute by that amazing theme!) I really appreciate it, my dear friend.

And I LOVE those example pics! Spike the elder statesman, showcasing his great taste in aunties, Harry, the master of in-context conversation, and sweet lil' Sweet Pea, who reminds me of my Suzie!

What a touching thing to share in common with Kise. No wonder it was love at first sight. There's just something really special about Lady Kise... something else she shares in common with her mom.

Betty is approximately 40-50 and has been with us for two years. She came to us on a long term foster agreement but her human's life took some unexpected turns and she is here with us permanently. Betty and Stephen Squawking (I LOVE that name!!!) have quite the impressive span of years between them! (Though Betty is looking as spry as ever!) I'm glad Betty has taken Stephen under her wing.

Betty and Stevie are darling together, thank you for sharing the beautiful story and photo and thank you so much for providing a home to these two sweethearts. Stevie is a very fortunate kid to have Betty for a mentor and you for a mom.

First, I apologize for not being clear in the original contest announcement, I’m so sorry but in the interest of a fair playing field this contest’s entries will be limited to photos.

Jacob’s story is a one of those that touch us deeply, thank you so much for adopting your mom’s beautiful boy. We will use the kiss photo for Jacob’s official entry. Best of luck, Handsome Jacob.

Sure hope entries aren't limited on this one, Friday I'll have two more babies coming home to show off! I'll wait till at least then to start taking pictures so I can include everybody if no one minds a few pictures?

All our POTM Contests are limited to one single official entry per member. Congrats on the two new family members. Not only do we not mind a few photos, we welcome a whole landslide of photos, no limit on just for fun photos but please remember to designate your entry photo. Best of luck with both the new arrivals and the contest.

Spike is 31?!?!?! Wow! I can only hope and pray!

Yep, Spike is 31. He does sometimes have trouble with gripping so has a short, wide cage in case of falls. In our houseful of big birds ,Spike is our oldest now:)
I hope your baby has a life as long Spike's too!

Also, congrats on adding to your flock at the end of the week. Looking forward to hearing about them and seeing the pics!

Just for fun, Gonzo, first parrot. He was a Mother's Day gift for my mom in 1985 but has been in my custody for a long while. Thirty four years and he was likely in the range of 2 to 4 at purchase.

That sounds fair, still like sharing my little videos as these days since I got my mom's camera I've been taking mostly videos and forget to actually take pictures sometimes. Lucky for me I can just screenshot my videos and I have pictures. :) :blue1:
