January 2021 POTM Contest!!!

This month's theme is Training: The Good, The Bad, and The... 'What the HECK Just Happened?!?'

:red::blue1::rainbow1:

This month we're focusing on training sessions. Ever capture a flawless moment of training? Or the ultimate training fail? Or how about that moment of unexpected hilarity when your bird does the totally unexpected? Or even that 'bang-your-head-against-the-wall moment when you realize your bird's actually been training you?

Now you can share those prideful, touching, head-scratching, or downright hilarious moments with the rest of your Parrot Forums family! Please submit a photo, gif or short video (90ish sec limit) of your bird doing whatever it is he/she does during training sessions. Whether perfect, catastrophic, or hilarious, We want to see it!

:yellow1:

Photoshop is allowed, though not required, for this month's contest.

No more than one entry per member, though you are free (and encouraged) to post as many related "just for fun" photos, gifs or videos as you'd like.

The winner will receive a Free One Year Premium Membership to Parrot Forums, and the winning photo/video/gif will be displayed on the Home Page for the following month!

Submissions will be accepted from today, January 1st through Friday, January 29th. (Dates may vary slightly depending on your local timezone) At the conclusion of the submission period, a 3-day poll will be held to determine the winner.

Good luck, everyone!

:grey::blue::gcc:

JFF!

Oooooooo, Stephen, this is gonna be great!!! I love it, thank you! We have so many wonderful trainers here, but I'm predicting a big share of hysterical, epic fails too. After all, it's all about fun with our fids, right? Can't wait! :)

Thanks, Jon! And you've got it right. I'm hoping to see the whole spectrum of training experiences. Big wins and epic fails alike. (Because we all know most of the big wins are built on a foundation of epic fails. Lol!)

Wonderful way to kick off the new year, Stephen! Not gonna lie, don't do a whole lot of training but now I am motivated. Expecting high initial fail to win ratio, but it is all good fun!

Oh Stephen, what a clever theme you have concocted for us this month - quite brilliant! I shall not, however be posting any videos, because they would just be humiliating. HRH The Crown Princess says She is not best pleased with the progress hubby and I have made so far in training, and that She may have to resort to far more harsh disciplinary measures to make those lessons stick! ;)

Whooohooo....this is going to be soooo much fun Stephen. Thank you. I'll try to get a video of Ellie calling out 'MOMMY' and me running to her beckoning as she has me well trained to do. LOL

None. My wife has one too many. Kidding!
After lo these many decades, the only one who ever gets trained around here is yours truly. I shall look forward to sympathizing with fellow lackeys, victims and cuckolds of illicit rooster-wife affairs.

Hahahahaha! Most excellent, brother! Just make sure you capture any aspect of said fail to win ratio on photo or video, so we can share in the fun with you! Whoo-hoo!

No video is too humiliating, Lady M! Especially since we've all been there. Lol! But good to see Lilly has remained consistent and determined with your and your husband's training, despite her disappointment with your progress! Stay on them, HRH! They'll eventually get it! Lol!

Ah, my friend. But you forget that the training goes both ways. Pics or video of the vaunted RB's relentless attempts to train you are every bit as welcomed as the other way around. Perhaps even more so. Lol!

HRH Lilly appears a tough taskmaster! Seems her human servants are thoroughly tamed and utterly submissive!

Ah, trust training! I LOVE this!!! The foundation upon which all other training is built! And often the toughest one to accomplish, as evidenced by your hard-fought two years, Laura. There's no feeling quite so special as the first time a skittish bird trusts you enough to accept a nibble from your hand... or hesitantly rest a foot upon your finger. No rush indeed. Cloudy is making beautiful progress at his own pace.

Thanks, Jim! I'm glad your brother enjoyed. And you best believe throwing food at you counts! Goes under the 'who's training who' aspect of the contest. I'm so hoping we get to see Amy and Beebs' disciplinary methods in action! Lol!

Thank you, my friend!

In the meantime, another JFF training moment...

Training Fail while attempting to get Maya to just lay in the palm of my hand. She'd gotten as far as letting go of my finger with her left foot.
"Great Maya. Now just let go with the other foot. Juuuuuust let go. Please? One-two-three, release! No? How about... now! Maya? I can't feel my finger. Sighhhhh..."

LOL, now that's funny. Salty does that trick, it's probably one, if not his most hated, of the tricks he does. He lets go for a count of 2 at most before he swings his head around to give a light nip on the finger to say "ENUF ALREADY". By way of distracting him, once he is on his back in my hand, I give his body a very light squeeze twice; it tells him that yeah this is the trick and not something strange I am going to do to him, and it distracts him for a few seconds.

I saw a video of a parrot show act, where the guy had trained 3 macaws to lie perfectly still and stiff like that as he JUGGLED them. Now , that's a trick!!
